WIW and NAS Report

Hi Everyone!

I had my NAS pre-select appointment on Friday and it was mainly a bust. I ended up buying one bra, which was a duplicate of one I already own and like. I might buy the matching underwear after the sale goes live. It's been so hot here lately...I'm just not motivated to buy sweaters and boots and things that will moulder in my closet for months before I can wear them. And the watch selection at our Nordstrom was different than online. Even the one I had my eye on that I asked the salesperson to pull ended up being different (much more bling on the one at our store than the same model is showing online). Not sure what's going on there, but I decided that I will put off watch buying until after my trip and ask for one for my birthday. I have a large gold bracelet I can wear instead of the watch, and I think it will have the same kind of effect in accessorizing an outfit.

This week I'm running around doing last minute errands before I leave Monday. Tomorrow I'm meeting my friend and conference roommate and we are going through her closet to pick accessories for her outfits, which I think will be really fun. There may be shoe shopping involved. She'd never heard of The Rack! So that would definitely be our first stop. :)

Here's what I wore to my appointment Friday. Thanks for reading and looking. :)

So cute, as always, that is a fantastic color for you, Ana! Thanks for the hot weather inspiration! Your summer looks have been beautiful, flirty, fun...very inspiring. I feel your shopping pain in the summer heat. Look forward to your future loot excursions...

Love the combination of the lace and seersucker. Super cute!

Love you in that bright orange/coral shade Ana!

Well that kind of stinks about NAS for you but look at the bright side - look at all the money you saved? (just trying to make you feel better...)

Such a fantastic outfit, Ana! I love the color orange you are wearing with the summer neutrals. I completely relate to the mood you were in for NAS, that's happens to be almost every year. This year I was shopping for shoes and boots so that was fairly easy and just grabbed a couple blouses that caught my eye. But I'm never in the mood to buy sweaters in the summer around here, the season is so short.

I love you in this length and style of shorts, Ana. SO KILLER.

I hereby crown you Queen Shorts :)

    Such a cute look!

I love this combination! All of the elements work so well together, and you look crisp and fun. Too bad nothing fabulous jumped out at you at NAS. How shocking (!) that your friend had never heard of the Rack :)! Maybe you will find some wonderful things there...

  • JR replied 11 years ago

    Very, very nice. :o)

  • Kyle replied 11 years ago

Rock those shorts, Ana. You look fab with or without NAS items! I did not have great luck at NAS, either. Your style has a wonderful feminine flair that is so YOU. Love it.

  • sarah replied 11 years ago

Ana, I just love your style, and this outfit is no exception - you look polished and playful all at once. How do you do it?!

Sorry to hear that your trip to NAS was a bust. It sounds very disappointing.

  • Ana replied 11 years ago

Wow, thank you so much! I appreciate the comments and commiserations about NAS.

Shannon, it probably IS good that I didn't spend too much money on NAS because the upcoming trip is going to be pretty pricey. My husband is happy about the lack of NAS goodies, at least. :)

Angie, thank you! I'm honored to be Queen Shorts. Hooray!

Jonesy, I feel like I should be a spokesperson for the Rack. I always talk about it and I buy a lot of things there, so I was surprised that I hadn't ever mentioned it her before now, hee hee.

    Thank you again everyone!

Sorry the NAS was a bust, but I don't know how anyone can buy sweaters when it's so hot (like it is for you, not me--60's here! There has been no summer as of yet.) I guess you must have a pretty short cold weather season too. Love the WIW. Ridiculously charming. You really have that gamine thing going on.

  • rachylou replied 11 years ago

You ARE super cute and definitely have the gamine thing down.

I have to tell ya, I also had a hard time shopping the NAS. I mean, I got sunburned on the walk from the parking lot into the store. When I got home, I had to lie down because of the too much sun. I tried on two parkas, and the second one, I was like *Get it off me! It's hot!* This is NOT something people hear from me often. I didn't have the strength for a lot of shopping.

  • Alecia replied 11 years ago

Sigh. I adore this outfit. It's so perfect.

  • Inge replied 11 years ago

Ana, I have loved every outfit you have shown us since you started posting on the forum again, and this one is no exception. I love the crisp white with the orange, the silhouette of your shorts and shoes, the playful and gamine vibe. It's all gorgeous!

Sorry to hear the NAS didn't work out for you, but sounds like you have the perfect plan in place for your new watch;-)

  • Jjsloane replied 11 years ago

You looked great even if you ended up with nothing new at NAS. It happens. I am a Rack fiend and struggle justifying even the great NAS prices since I end up finding better deals at the Rack (just need more patience and lots of trips there which is my own therapy).

  • Deborah replied 11 years ago

You look seriously gorgeous! Sorry NAS was a bust:(

  • Laura replied 11 years ago

Maybe something interesting will show up in Angie's picks? Something cool and blousey?

Too bad that NAS didn't work out. But the fact that you used the word "moulder" makes everything better :)

What conference are you attending? A writing conference?

  • ManidipaM replied 11 years ago

That's such a HOT and cool little outfit, Ana! You look enchanting, as always.

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

I don't know how you manage to look so cool and collected when it's so hot out, but kudos to you. You look smashing!

  • Lisa replied 11 years ago

Fun outfit! It is a bit hard to shift gears and think cold weather when shopping NAS if you are dealing with extreme heat. I find shoes and accessories shopping easier to do. And I use NAS to stock up on my staples such as bras, PJs, hose, etc.

  • san replied 11 years ago

You really do look great in this style of shorts. You look very elegant as always. You don't even look like you're in sweltering heat. This is a very Ana look. You've made it your own.

  • nancylee replied 11 years ago

    Such a fab look! LOVE!

It's too bad you didn't find much at the NAS, but you're sure to find plenty once more fall merchandise gets into the stores.

  • Ana replied 11 years ago

Thank you SO MUCH, everyone! Your compliments and comments mean a lot to me and give me a lot of confidence. :)

Laura, it is a writing conference. I'm really looking forward to it. There will be editors from the major publishers in my genre there talking about what they are looking for and what they've published recently so I will be able to get the lay of the land and maybe an idea about where my book might fit. I also have an appointment with two agents to pitch my book. Of course, there will be a lot of workshops and networking as well (I finally get to meet some "Twitter friends" in person). Of course, this week everyone is talking about what to wear and shopping. Since everyone on YLF was kind enough to give me feedback on my outfits, I already feel totally prepared. :)

    Thank you again!

  • Aida replied 11 years ago

Super cute as usual, Ana! I love those seersucker shorts, and the bright red-orange is fab with the soft white and blue.

  • Vicki replied 11 years ago

Seersucker shorts topped with the bright orange is a winning look on you!
