Country Clubbing

This outfit is pretty straightforward, but I wanted a chance to wear the new "statement" necklace I got last week. I like it a lot, but I'm still trying to figure out how to wear big jewelry. Any ideas?

It's not too hot today, so I was able to wear a cotton cardigan and not feel overheated. Also picked up these high-waisted seersucker shorts at TJ Maxx yesterday. They are super lightweight and I like the sailor button detailing on them. Do you think they need a belt? I thought about wearing a belt with this, but then I thought it would be too much with the big necklace.

Thank you!

Cardigan: J. Crew
Shorts: Sanro
Shoes: Seychelles
Necklace: J. Crew

So adorable and fresh! I don't think you need a belt here. Love that sunny yellow necklace!

I like the way you've style the necklace here Ana. Definitely don't want the statement piece competing with other pieces in the outfit, so I wouldn't add a belt. The shoes are far enough away that they add a complementary pop of color.

No belt needed. Gourgeous outfit! I really love how the necklace and shoes stand ou. And the shorts... *me want!*

You look fantastic! I've never seen shorts and heels look so preppy and classy. The big necklace looks great.

Ana, you are so adorable in this outfit and I love that necklace and the way it "plays" color-wise with your seersucker shorts. The addition of color with your shoes couldn't be better! Perfect in every way.

It's a really cute outfit! You look so spring-y! I just ordered that same necklace in a bluish color, but don't have it yet.

Gorgeous! I think the belt would take away from the cute button detailing. What a fun warm weather look! Super duper cool necklace!

love this... Those jcrew necklaces have been on my wants too. Looks incredible with this simple outfit and the red shoes are the perfect compliment...

So cute! I think you were right to skip the belt. Do you like the necklace placement? I feel like it could be shortened, but maybe that's just me.

  • replied 12 years ago

Great shorts, I love the sailor buttons. They would also look awesome with a bright shirt tucked in to show the waist. :)

  • Laura replied 12 years ago

OMG!! Love this! Incredible! You are looking amazing these days, Ana.

I absolutely adore the shorts. Seersucker, are you kidding me?? And sailor styling? Totally awesome.

Can you shorten the bubble necklace just a tad? I feel like I want to see it slightly higher.

VERY sweet outfit. I really love it!

2 THUMBS UP!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

  • Ana replied 12 years ago

Thank you so much, everyone! :) :) :)

Scarlet and Laura--thank you for the suggestion! I do think a little shorter would be better. I usually wear my necklaces pretty short, but I wasn't sure with this one since it's so big. I will try it next time and if YLF approves, I will take it to get shortened.

SUCH a cute outfit Ana, I love love love it! I agree with the no belt needed here, the necklace and shoes are enough extra. Those shorts are pretty darn awesome :D

    You look really pretty!

You look too pretty for words!

When I saw "country clubbing" in the title above, I kept thinking of mirror balls, dance floors and cowboy boots. It took me awhile to realize you meant going to a country club...with golf and tennis and luncheons :)

I am delirious with exhaustion, lol.

You are an adorable wonder - love your pixie! WOW - this is a head-turning outfit. The necklace is a stunner, and the red pumps with shorts? Wowza. Very cool, springy, edgy-fabulous!

Whoa. So fresh and original. Fantastic look. I'm a fan!

  • Kari replied 12 years ago

I think you're spot on to keep the accessories bold, few, but simple with a larger necklace. I really like the seersucker shorts, and may I also compliment you on your pretty, long legs that are really highlighted (but tastefully) by the shorts?

  • Marley replied 12 years ago

I LOVE this - you just look so cute (I hope you take that as a compliment!) That necklace is perfect - and enough - no need for a belt! Thanks for posting!

  • AJ replied 12 years ago

So did you golf in this outfit? : P

Luv how fresh for spring this looks! The sunny yellow necklace and cherry red pumps are so fun! I agree that the necklace could be a tad higher. The button detail on the shorts are just too cute!

If you want to wear a belt with this necklace in a different outfit, just make sure the belt is tonal to the top so that the necklace is still the star, but you still have waist definition.

  • fashionista replied 12 years ago

Perfect cute outfit. Don't add belt otherwise your belt and your necklace would be competing for attention. This is just perfect and that cardi is so sweet. Loved your pumps and sunshine necklace. Your outfit is like a sunshine here making my day and treat to my sore ailing eyes.

  • Ana replied 12 years ago

    Thank you, everyone!

Amy, hahaha that's hilarious! I never thought about country = cowboy, but I can see now how it could come across that way! :D

    Kari, thank you so much!

Marley, I definitely take that as a compliment. :)

AJ, thank you for the tip about the tonal belt. I will keep it in mind next time I wear these shorts!

Gorgeous outfit Ana! You look so pretty! Love those shorts and do not think you need a belt. I would also try to shorten the necklace ever-so-slightly. And I think it would also look great with a very simple white top (even a tank) and bright jeans/bottoms in a complimentary color.
