Daytime Lace

Hi everybody!

I wore this outfit to an afternoon tea my writing group hosted a few weeks ago. I got the bottoms during the Austin YLF outing. They were capris that I cut and folded to make them clamdiggers. Thanks to Debbie and Sarah for convincing me to pick these up!

Thank you! :)

Top: Nanette Lepore (via The Rack)
Clamdiggers: Ann Taylor LOFT
Shoes: Me Too
Bag: Ann Taylor

Lovely crisp lace top and orange clams. This outfit is so you, one of my favorites you've posted. Perfect in every way. Now I need some clams!

You always look so fresh and crisp!

I'm telling EVERYONE again! Shouting it from the roof tops!! Clams are flop proof on *all* body types. They always look good. Glad you are convinced, bj1111.

    KILLER look, Ana.

Crisp, sharp, modern, fab! And afternoon tea with your writer's group sounds like so much fun--can I come next time :)?

Those clam diggers are awesome. You look great and I think I may have to take Angie's advice about clam diggers.

  • catgirl replied 11 years ago

So pretty! I love your hair more every time you post a photo.

  • morethanbeige replied 11 years ago

Love this look. Fantastic! Yes, I'm convinced about clams!

You do a great job of incorporating "romantic" items into your look without overly romanticizing the outfit, if that makes any sense. I still remember a safari-esque outfit you posted years ago with silky cargo capris that took my breath away. Your style has evolved beautifully and you still have that lovely romantic softness to much of what you wear. It's stunning!

Such a pretty outfit Ana! I fully intend on copying it, as I have just picked up a pair of coral clamdiggers.

  • Ana replied 11 years ago

Wow! Thank you so much, everyone! I'm on my phone right now and it's hard to type, so I will be back a little later to respond properly. Just wanted to say thanks! :)

  • Debora replied 11 years ago

Oh, wow! I love this so much! You look absolutely stunning in your lace top.

  • Kari replied 11 years ago

Ana, to add to what others wrote, I also love the subtle details that make this outfit so fantastic - the fact that everything fits you perfectly, and how the neckline (especially the deliberate "grinning" at the top under the lace) really emphasizes your pretty shoulders and collarbones. And the color of those clams couldn't be more perfect.

Ana, this is a beautiful, elegant and yet simple outfit. I love it.

  • Suz replied 11 years ago

This is so lovely and flattering on you. I really love the neckline of the top for all the reasons Kari said, the the fit of everything is great, and the white with bright and dark accessories is so unexpected but so perfect! This is inspirational!

This is SUCH a lovely outfit. I just got those jeans in emerald, I believe, and had the same idea about cutting them off. They look so fantastic on you. I'm glad that I got them.

Phew, I finally have chance to sit down at my computer. First, thank you so much to everyone. I really appreciate your comments and compliments. I'm blushing reading over them all. This is one of my favorite outfits, so I'm glad it got YLF approval. :)

Bj1111 and Morethanbeige, I'm so glad you're giving clamdiggers a try! I have a blue denim pair, and now this pair. I didn't even bother hemming them since I knew I would be rolling them. I just cut them off using pinking sheers and I haven't had any problems with unraveling ends (knock on wood). I used my blue pair as a length template. It's definitely worth a try if you have a pair of capris you don't mind experimenting on.

IK, thank you! I think it's because I take the photos in the morning right after I get dressed. I definitely don't look this way by the end of the day (especially if it's hot outside). ; )

Wow, thank you for the 'Killer' rating, Angie!

Thank you, Nicole and Una for the compliment on my hair! :)

Jonesy, that would be awesome! The more the merrier. We're all mostly genre fiction writers, but it's a very accepting group. Everyone is really nice.

Laura, thank you so much! I remember which outfit you're referring to exactly! I'm so flattered that you've remembered it for so long. I still have that blouse (the pants kind of fell apart on me since they were from Zara or F21). I am very attracted to "romantic" pieces, and I really work to keep the things I buy from being too dramatic/costume-y or too bohemian, so your compliment really means a lot. Thank you! :)

Kari and Suz, thank you for the compliments and the breakdown. What you say makes sense! I love this top. I actually bought it in white and in black because I like it so much. :D

Hooray, Sarah! We're clamdigger twins! I ended up cutting off about four inches and then I roll them twice. You should go for it if you're on the fence. :D

Thank you again everyone. I really do appreciate each of your comments.
