The Fourth

Hi Everyone!

We finally got our old apartment cleaned up and turned the keys in yesterday. We spent most of today settling into our new place, but in the evening we headed over to our friends' house for hot dogs and (small-scale) fireworks. I made a cherry pie and honey-rhubarb crumble, which doesn't look like much but is nice and tart. I love rhubarb! The whole evening was really fun and I ate a ton! :D

It's been hot outside, but not unbearable (high 90s). I wanted to wear something comfortable and easy to wash since I knew we'd be outside in the grass. I'm still not completely unpacked, so I don't have access to a lot of my accessories right now.

Dress: Target
Vest: Madewell
Necklace: Betsy Johnson
Shoes: Nine West

Thanks for looking! All comments and suggestions appreciated. :)

I love love and love your combo of dress with jeans vest. That's my fav combination. And I hope you had a great time. That's a real statement necklace.
What's that flame on your hand in the last pic?

You look so fresh and summery :-) Love the denim and the orange print together! Love the looks of your rhubarb dessert too :-)

    Thanks, Tanya and Fashionista! :)

Fashionista, it's a sparkler. The picture is kind of blurry so it looks like my whole hand is on fire, lol.

I love this denim vest over summer dress look! I am looking to thrift a cropped jacket and remove the sleeves before our Summer in Australia, hope it looks as good as yours!

Lovely dress & cute finishing touch with the denim vest. The thought of your rhubarb crumble is making my mouth water.

That's the perfect outfit for some extra desert! The denim vest over the dress is very fresh, and that's a great statement necklace you added. You look fab, and I'm glad it wasn't too hot for the festivities! love rhubarb too, the color of it and the flavor. Yummy tart goodness.

    Love it Ana!

Wonderful! I am also duly impressed that you consider the high 90s hot but bearable. We are having 102 today and I find any in that vicinity unbearable!

Do you love your new place?

What a beautiful summer outfit Ana! I love the orange colour of the dress coupled with the faded denim vest. So pretty! Sounds like a fun evening - don't fireworks bring out the child in all of us?

Ana the dress and vest are just gorgeous. You look so fresh and pretty.

    Thank you so much, everyone!

Laura, I'm surprised at how much I like our new place, given that it's quite a bit smaller (and older) than our last one, and the day we moved in the power didn't work and the AC was broken, heh. But that's all fixed now and we got our furniture in here (even the stuff in the storage unit) and hung up some pictures yesterday so it's starting to feel more like "home." It's also much less expensive, and we're taking the difference and saving up to buy either a house or a condo in the next year or two.

It's supposed to be 98 here today, but lately the humidity is down around 35%, which for me makes a HUGE difference. I actually wore jeans the other day to run some errands. I think if it stayed dry like that I could wear linen pants quite easily and often in the summer. But it really varies, depending on where the wind is coming from that day. Sometimes it's super humid (Gulf winds) and sometimes it's dry (westerly winds).

Now here's a change! It's coolor in TX than in Chicago! By 10pm, it was still 93 degrees, after a high of 105. Same for today. And tomorrow. Yeehaw!

You look wonderfully relaxed and chic in the dress/vest ensemble and, while some of your accessories are packed, your necklace is terrifically unique and fun.

    The crumble looks amazing, too!

You look smashing Ana, and match your rhubarb pie :)

It's the TX version of the trusty denim jacket formula!
