WIW: Black and White

Hi Everyone!

It's been very hot this week (today is 104). I had lunch with some friends on Labor Day, and then we went shopping. It was at a nice, outdoor mall, so I knew we'd be in and out of shops a lot. I got this boxy, cropped, lace jacket in June, and I have worn it a ton. The jacket keeps me cool outside, but warmer when we're inside. It's like a magic jacket! This is another of my "go-to" summer outfits and I wear it the same way every time.

Suggestions for other ways to wear the jacket would be great! So far, I've only worn it over a black tank top. Thank you!

    Classy colour combo in a edgy way, love it!
    Is that a mini or shorts? Anyway, You have great legs so perfectly appropiate.
    Love the lace jacket, never tought wearing such kind of a thing other ways than formal-but I see it works so well!
    Is the body knitted, and so is surelly more on the casual side, or lace-too-and than grinning? Then you could play with this feature wearing it over colourred tops, for sure.

    Love this look on you! If a jacket like that worked in my climate I'd be all over it. It snowed here in the mountaintops, so yeah, it's not happening.

    Do you have a silvery grey shell or tank? Jacket would work with that, too. Or really any colour of top. To move into fall, maybe a burgundy or cognac under layer....How about with your pencil skirt?

    Demure, retro, modern, pretty - all wrapped up into one fab outfit. Plus you can NEVER go wrong with black and white!

    This is beautiful, Ana. The black and white makes for such a strong ensemble while at the same time the lace adds a softness I adore, and then you add in the red of your bag. Perfect!

    Perhaps you could wear the jacket with a white or black & white patterned sleeveless blouse?

    Angie, thanks for the K-rating. I haven't tried wearing a white tank, but I think I could do it. The jacket has little decorative tabs on it and they are white, so I think it would look nice. I am definitely on Team Legs! :D

    Lyn67, thank you! They are actually shorts. I don't mind short shorts, but I've always felt too exposed to wear skirts that short. Kind of weird, I know. The jacket is lace all over. Sorry, I know it's hard to tell from the photo since it's black on black and the lighting isn't really great. Thinking about colored tops I have in my wardrobe right now that might work...

    Suz, I don't have any silver or grey because it's a really terrible color on me. I like the suggestion of a darker red. Burgundy isn't my best color, but then again, neither is black. I might have to try it. Thank you!

    Thanks, Inge! I'm going to play around with sleeveless tops I have right now. I do have some white ones, although both of them are also lace, so that might be lace overload. :D

    You are a trooper to handle that kind of heat and look this fab!

    I don't think black, red and white will ever go out of style. It's so insanely sophisticated.

    I love this outfit! I like black and white together even though I rarely wear the combo myself. I like the suggestions of dark red or maroon. The jacket could also work great with browns - maybe a tan top underneath the lace.

    Laura, thanks for asking! :) I'll say it's coming along *okay* but probably because I haven't started writing for the day, lol. If you ask again later, my answer will probably be different (you know how it goes). I'm trying to revise my rough draft and realized I can't use all that much of it.
