A Soft Outfit for a Warm Day

Hi Everyone!

I was finally able to take an outfit photo yesterday. It's starting to get warmer here (high 80s-90s). I wore this outfit to go see a movie at the Paramount Theater downtown, which is one of those old-fashioned theaters that used to stage plays but now they also show old films in the summer too. I went to with a friend and her husband and we sipped gin ricky's and watched "The Sting," then went to dinner afterwards. It was really fun!

I picked up this tunic at TJ Maxx a few days ago. It was on the clearance rack and looked pretty dingy and wrinkled, but I figured for $15 it was worth taking home and seeing if I could clean it up. I like the pleats down the front and the drape. It reminds me of a blouse from the 1920s.

Tunic: Free People
Skirt: J. Crew
Bag: Anthropologie
Shoes: Bass

Comments and suggestions are always welcome! Thank you for looking. :)

P.S. I just got a new phone and the camera in it is supposed to be better than my point and click. I took this photo on the HD setting with my phone, so please let me know how the quality is for all of you, would you? I might be able to do some editing to make it better.

Quality of picture is high, I wouldn't have guessed it was taken with a phone!

Love the outfit and especially your new tunic. Great find, I've never seen anything from Free People at my local TJM.

Beautiful and chic! I love how you can put relatively simple pieces together in such a stylish way. Love the flats. So glad that you rescued that tunic from its dingy confinement :)

Thank you so much, everyone! Thanks for the feedback on the photo as well. It is very helpful to know how the quality comes across for everyone else.

I love everything but the shoes. I only *like* the shoes. : ) They seem not quite airy enough for the rest of the outfit. Do you have any chunky sandals, maybe?

Perfect putfit to go see The Sting that drapey top is very pretty on you.

  • Amy replied 11 years ago

    Perfect, head to toe.

I can't believe the quality of that camera phone pic! Impressive.

Anna, I got that same Anthro handbag as a gift for my sister for Christmas this year. I thought it was beautiful, and she's got a very casual artsy style.

That floaty blouse almost has an ethereal, dreamlike quality. The sleeve detail looks almost Grecian to me. It's a beautiful piece, so I'm glad that you scooped it up!

Wow, that blouse is super beautiful :)

I LOVE this Ana, it is both soft and neutral!

Thank you so much for all the comments! :D

IK, thanks for the suggestion! I think it's really good. Unfortunately, I don't have any chunky sandals. Right now I only have three pairs of sandals total. They are on my shopping list, though! I'm just kind of picky (and I hate shoe shopping), so building my collection is slow going. :)

Looking at shoes today I saw many stylish young women wearing and looking at shoes similar to those you are wearing. Love the top, but the shoes help keep the outfit modern and young (not frumpy).

Good eye for spotting that top. It looks pristine now, and perfect for a hot day!

You look great. Cool and comfortable.

  • Diana replied 11 years ago

So pretty and ethereal. Hooray for seeing the potential in that top. I love the fun bag too!

ETA: The photo quality looks excellent to me.

Simple and beautiful. I love the new tunic top - very feminine and versatile (and a great price)

  • krishnidoux replied 11 years ago

I immediately noticed the tunic. Love the sleeves!
However I side wiht IK about the shoes. Sandals, ballet flats or kitten heel are my suggestions.

  • Jaime replied 11 years ago

Well I like the whole thing including the shoes! So pretty!
