Inspired By Nature Challenge, Day One

Hi everyone!

I'm trying to do all five days of Bella's "Inspired by Nature" outfit challenge. It really is turning out to be a challenge for me. I spent a long time in my closet yesterday trying to put some things together.

I couldn't do the colors in the picture because I don't own anything light pink or purple, so I went for mood and shapes instead. I chose this outfit based on the softness of the photo--the soft, muted colors, the light and the rounded silhouettes of the elephants. I felt very peaceful looking at the picture. My outfit also has a safari aspect because the photographer was in Africa (obvious leap, I know).

Thank you for looking! Comments and suggestions are always appreciated.

Silk Tunic: Anthropologie

Nice! I love the top which mirrors the reflection in the water.

You've captured the essence of the photo, Ana. You look wonderful! I love the print of the tunic especially.

Such a wonderful take on a Safari look, Ana. I like that you though to tuck a tunic (I have a couple I could treat this way. And I'm so ready to see button front skirts back! This one has such a lovely proportion, and the "double breasted" buttons will prevent the horrible "gap" you sometimes get with button-fronts. Very soft and lovely overall! Now --- when are you booking your flight?

    what an amazing top!
Ana - yes, please post your pic in the other thread as well. I like keeping all the pictures in the same place for posterity and ease of access.

Beautiful, Ana! I like your interpretation.

I'd never have imagined a safari look could be so polished and pretty --- thanks so much for this, Ana! You evoke natural cycles and earthiness and a sense of joy and promise, and... relief? hope? that I felt the image captured in that moment, in that gathering by the water that must have happened yesterday and will, gods willing, happen tomorrow too. There is a certain fragility to each, which your flowered top echoes, and a stability that your skirt matches. Love the iridescence of the purse, reminiscent of the moon.

Fabulous look, Ana. It really does capture the feeling. Manidipa put it so eloquently, so I will let her speak.

I love the floral shirt tucked into the skirt! I probably wouldn't have thought of it because I would be worried about cutting off the print, but it looks great.

Great interpretation! Not literal, but very much echoes the feeling of the picture...and you look great!

Beautiful, poetic interpretation of the photo. Mandipa and others expressed why it works so much better than I could.

Thanks everyone! Sorry I didn't have time to check in earlier. I really appreciate all the comments and compliments! And thank you for the K-rating, Angie! And Manidipa, your comment was gorgeously written! Thank you so much!

I'm glad the outfit wasn't too off the mark from the inspiration. I'm really struggling with tomorrow's outfit. Still thinking about it...

This is a really fun challenge, though. :)

Very glamourous and I love this outfit on you! Manidipa's right - you really know how to make 'safari' look fab. Pairing a lovely floral print top with a safari-ish skirt is another one of those 'killer' combinations, and I would never have thought to try something like this - extremely inspiring and very beautiful on you.
